The Orchid Retreat is situated on a 2.5 acre property of the flower nursery of Ganesh Mani Pradhan & Son. Facilities at The Orchid Retreat consist of 2 independent cottages, 2 cottages each having two rooms and 4 rooms in a two floor an additional building. This makes a total of 10 rooms offering accommodation for 20 adults on a twin-sharing basis. Each spacious room has an attached bathroom, running hot and cold water and a spacious verandah. The cottages are situated on terraced slopes in the property.  A large part of the property is landscaped into a natural garden with a wide variety of local and exotic flowering plants that are in bloom throughout the year. There are no television sets, telephones or intercom buzzers in the rooms. The accent is on providing a quiet and restful holiday for those who take up lodgings. There is a small but growing library in the office with books on the History, Flora & Fauna, Botany of the Darjeeling & Sikkim Himalayan Region and some books on travel and regional cuisine.

 Lodgings are offered by prior booking only and we do not, at present, entertain walk-in guests. This so because hospitality at The Orchid Retreat is still looked after by the family and we need a full day to have rooms and other requisites spruced up for guests. Meals are served in the recently constructed dining area in the basement of the main house. We do not serve meals in the cottages or rooms except in exceptional circumstances when guests are not feeling too well. Only early morning tea is served in the rooms and cottages.

 We have excellent contacts with local travel agents and transport service providers and can arrange vehicles for pick-up and drop at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. There are small but specialized outfits that organise rafting in the river Teesta and others who plan and lead camping and trekking trips in the mountains.
